 We newly developed Premlis® based on our novel technology, succeeding to the first capacitor EcoCache® by applying the technology of Nanogate Carbon®.
Premlis® is a new asymmetric capacitor by applying Nanogate Carbon® as cathode (positive electrode) and graphitic carbons as anode (negative electrode).
It has enabled us to achieve big improvement of capacitor characteristics; the rated voltage as high as 4V, and twice effective energy density of our conventional products (patent pending).



 

 The negative electrode is electrochemically doped with Lithium (Li) ions in advance manufacturing process.
In the charging and discharging action, Li ions adsorb onto and desorb from the negative electrode, and anions concurrently adsorb onto and desorb from the positive electrode, respectively.





 


 In this figure, the structures and characteristics of Premlis® are compared with other devices; conventional symmetric capacitor (electric double layer capacitor) and Lithium ion battery (LIB).
Typical energy and power densities of these 3 cell types are graphically shown for easier understanding.
Advantages of Premlis® is high energy density with high power density characteristics.








 Negative electrode potential of Premlis® does not change during charge/discharge processes. The potential value is very close to that of lithium metal, and far lower than that of symmetric capacitor.
Positive electrode potentials of both capacitors change corresponding directly to their charging states. So the Premlis® cell voltage (voltage between the positive and negative electrodes) exceeds that of symmetric capacitors.
In addition, since the cathode potential is kept almost constant, the cell capacitance depends only on the capacitance of another electrode (cathode).
This is the reason why Premlis® having big capacitance could be realized by applying the Nanogate Carbon™.

 Premlis® has the advantage of energy density and rated voltage being higher than those of a conventional capacitor.
